Most backup services keep your data in their buckets, priced per gigabyte. It is convenient right up until you need to answer a compliance question about data residency, or until egress fees make a full restore a budget decision.
Bring your own vault
Writing encrypted backups to storage you already own keeps residency, retention and cost under your control. The provider handles scheduling, monitoring and the restore workflow; the bytes stay yours.
That is the model SaveMyDB uses: a lightweight agent on Linux or Windows, encryption at the source, and a flat $1 per database per month regardless of how much you store.
